About the restaurant

Chef-patron Victor Garvey's career has included stints in high-end restaurants in his native US as well as Japan. His London restaurants included Encant and Rambla that showcased simple but effective tapas dishes inspired by his Catalonian heritage. The recently opened Sola is more the former than the latter, showcasing the forward-thinking set and tasting menus that won him a Michelin star less than a year after opening.

Sola's dining room puts quality over quantity, with lunch and dinner services that keep diners at the table for a long time, rather than ushering them back out the door quickly. Lush plants around the edge of the room and large filament bulbs lend the dining room plenty of character.

Food here revolves around California's light and delicious cuisine, and so does the wine – the list is almost entirely American, with most of it from the Golden State, and a few from Oregon and New York State. Don't be surprised to see a bit of fusion in its menus, with Californian-style dishes infused with umami flavours and Japanese ingredients.
