About the restaurant

Kricket was founded by chef Will Bowlby and his business partner Rik Campbell. After two years of cooking in Mumbai, Bowlby decided to come back to London to open a casual restaurant serving dishes inspired by his time in the Indian capital, starting in street food before their first bricks-and-mortar site. The pair have since opened two more locations, in White City and Brixton.

The dining room at Kricket Soho is sleek, chic and contemporary-feeling. A few small booths on one side of the main room complement the mostly counter seating, set around its open kitchen, and longer benches towards the back of the restaurant.

Kricket’s food is all about modern takes on authentic flavours from across India and the subcontinent, from Keralan-style fried chicken to a venison shami kebab. A short list of cocktails showcases spicy, tropical flavours, like the Different Daze, with coconut rum, chilli and lime.

The Nudge

The food, if you haven’t already had the pleasure, is Indian-influenced but rustled up with seasonal British ingredients, and comes courtesy of chef Will Bowlby, who came back from two years cheffing in Mumbai to launch Kricket with his old chum Rik Campbell.

Time Out

Think exposed brick and sleek monogrammed barstools, dominated by an L-shaped counter where you can dine looking over into a gleaming open kitchen.

Standard

Here the ground floor is set entirely around said kitchen, allowing for some prime counter seating that puts you right ahead of the action. Downstairs offers something even better that Brixton never could — reservations.
