About the restaurant

Fenchurch has been the main dining spot at the 20 Fenchurch Street building (nicknamed the Walkie Talkie for its distinctive shape) since its opening. Located in a plush dining room at mezzanine level, it’s one of a clutch of distinct venues at the top of the recently built skyscraper, including the lush urban garden and bar Sky Garden. All venues overlook the London skyline, with a terrace to really soak in the views.

The food and drink venues at 20 Fenchurch Street come from Rhubarb, a caterer and restaurant operator with years of experience in the dining scene. Recently installed chef Michael Carr mans the kitchen, having clocked up experience at Northcote Manor and Alyn Williams at the Westbury, among others, before taking the reins here.

Food menus here are fairly typical of an upmarket City restaurant, featuring accessible but elegantly prepared modern British dishes and with a classic à la carte format, rather than for the table to share. Dishes have a little fine-dining flourish – such as pan-braised halibut with an oyster emulsion. Typically of a destination restaurant, starters average around £18, while mains are around double that – not cheap, but worth it for more than competent cooking and incredible views.
