Located on Marylebone Lane, Delamina features a bright and airy but chic dining room, full of exposed brick, hanging baskets and comfy booths with fat cushions that’ll make you happy to settle in for a long lunch or dinner.
The restaurant comes from husband-and-wife team Limor and Amir Chen. It follows up their first opening Strut & Cluck, a restaurant specialising in turkey dishes that has since been renamed Delamina East.
Inspiration for the dishes isn’t restricted to one country, but rather from places across the Eastern Mediterranean. The turkey shawarma pita is a reliable order, continuing the theme from Strut & Cluck, while meze dishes like house-made hummus and Jerusalem artichokes on whipped manouri dip go beautifully with a superb range of cocktails.
The airy, high-ceilinged dining room brims with shabby-chic elegance, staff are charming and the people-watching is good.
Fresh and aromatic small plates that pack a punch include deep-fried and spice-coated whole fingers of okra
The menu is divided into vegetables, meat, fish and seafood, and we started by sharing a pita balagan, ‘grilled and topped with today’s larder’.
