Bocca di Lupo was opened in 2008 by co-founders Jacob Kenedy and Victor Hugo, with the aim of celebrating the beautiful produce and food traditions of Italy. In 2010 the pair also opened Gelupo, a café serving authentic Italian gelato.
The menu showcases signature dishes from across Italy's 20 regions. The wine list is all-Italian, and the menu changes daily, but standout dishes include a house-made cotechino sausage served with stewed lentils.
With a beautiful, long marble counter that surrounds its open kitchen and a cosy, comfortable dining room, Bocca di Lupo remains an excellent spot for a date night.
Bocca is in Soho. It doesn’t have a concept, it isn’t ‘by’ a particular chef and it isn’t one of those places you think about wearing your ‘smart clothes’ to.
The menu at Bocca di Lupo - literally "the mouth of the wolf" - reads like a wine list. Every dish comes with its own appellation
Highlights — of which there are many — include a radish, celeriac, pomegranate and pecorino salad which sings with a pungent truffle dressing; and a Puglian burrata which could be the capital’s creamiest.
You already have all of that at Bocca, which delivers everything you want from a Soho restaurant: simple, smart and sassy – a wolf in chic clothing.
Bocca di Lupo is an opportunity to check out some classics (and a few extremes) of Italian regionalism.
The buzz is as important as the food at this enduringly popular Soho restaurant, but the food can be pretty memorable too.
Pretty much all of the menu is cleverly offered in either small or large portion sizes (as opposed to starters/mains) giving diners the option of a tapas-style sharing experience, or a more generously portioned individual meal.
