Vardo comes from the founders of Caravan, the coffee roaster-turned-restaurant group inspired by the upbeat dining scene of Melbourne and Auckland, which serves killer coffee and all-day dining dishes..
The dining room is unique in look and feel – a circular building with vaulted windows, it opens up on sunny days and ushers the outside in, and the result is a dining experience that feels breezy and upbeat.
Food here is nothing if not eclectic, with everything from flatbreads stuffed with garam masala labneh, fenugreek-chilli butter and spiced chickpeas to Peruvian style baby squid salad. Smaller bowl-style dishes are perfect if you’re popping in for a quick lunch.
A space, then, that immediately makes you smile and slough away your cares. And, very happily, the food does, too.
The menu spans the entire day and starts as one might reasonably expect with breakfast, for the likes of cornbread French toast with avo, thick-cut bacon, and maple paprika; or maybe a chorizo & potato hash with poached eggs & a saffron buttermilk dressing.
It’s as perfect for a coffee date as it is for a solo drink and some people watching, and if you’re in the mood for something warm and comforting, and you’re a fan of cinnamon, try their golden spiced milk.
Besides, Vardo is about more than the eats (though they’re excellent). It’s also a place for unrivalled people-watching
The menu's theme is “no boundaries”, inspired by the notion of a wagon travelling the world collecting produce and flavours as it goes.
