About the restaurant

Lobos's first location, in Borough Market, was set up by four Spanish chefs who met working in the kitchen at Brindisa. They opened Lobos Meat & Tapas in 2015 with the aim of serving delicious Spanish and British produce, prepared simply, that celebrate Spanish tapas culture, and followed it up with their Soho location shortly after.

Set in a prime location on Frith Street, Lobos holds its own surrounded by some of London's best restaurants and bars. In Spanish style, the dining room is small, and the atmosphere is buzzy.

The menu here is slightly more extensive than its smaller Borough site. Nonetheless, Lobos tends to stick to the classics, offering classic tapas dishes like patatas bravas, pan con tomate and jamón croquetas. For something more substantial, its selection of charcuterie and grilled meats – including plenty of high-quality Ibérico pork and a Spanish-style chuletón steak – complement the lighter bites beautifully.

Time Out

The food is just as seductive. Unsurprisingly, the speciality here is meat (lobos literally translates as ‘wolves’) and the focus is Iberico pig. First up was the zorza: a wonderfully oily, smoky mess of tender pork shoulder and crispy potatoes, topped with a fried egg and served in a small, brown earthenware dish.

Standard

Lobos know well how to serve up good social vibes by the spade-load. The well-priced all-Spanish list of cavas, wine and sherry does its bit, too.
