About the restaurant

Having made its name as one of the best Italian delicatessens in London since its establishment in 1944, Lina Stores added a restaurant operation in 2018 to expand the operation and showcase the authentic ingredients it imports from Italy.

Masha Rener heads up the kitchen at Lina Stores Soho (and its sister restaurant in King’s Cross). The Umbrian-born chef takes inspiration from her upbringing in rural Italy and classic Italian cooking from other regions she’s worked in and visited.

The pasta at Lina Stores is always popular, and the kitchen team makes it from scratch every day by hand. As well as being used in a number of dishes on the menu, it’s also available to take home from the deli.

The Infatuation

The pastas here are bound to make you smile. They come in small portions, making this a perfect choice for a quick lunch, or a light post-theatre bite.

Time Out

The pasta (what the deli’s best known for) is Lina’s strongest suit. There was nicely al dente pici (hand-rolled, worm-like) in a creamy porcini mushroom and Umbrian sausage sauce, pappardelle with rabbit ragù, or my favourite: a cosseting plate of herb gnudi (ricotta and semolina dumplings).

Standard

The bar area is pure Wes Anderson, with a symmetrical display of Campari bottles and packets of pasta, and signature mint green everywhere, from the chef’s striped aprons to the crockery.

The Nudge

The decor throws back to the original Lina Stores, with a mid-century Italian vibe, and a mint green, white and polished aluminium aesthetic throughout.
