About the restaurant

A flagship restaurant for the iconic British steakhouse group, Hawksmoor Spitalfields brings beautifully sourced cuts of British beef – as well as other grilled meat and fish dishes and sides – to a quiet backstreet near Liverpool Street.

As well as its restaurant operation, Hawksmoor Spitalfields features a fantastic speakeasy-style basement bar, whose drinks list has won awards at major global awards, including claiming the Best International Restaurant Bar award at Tales of the Cocktail 2019.

Hawksmoor is known for its commitment to sustainability in its sourcing, operations and workplace culture. It features a 3* rating from the Sustainable Restaurant Association and has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for charity Action Against Hunger.

The Infatuation

We Brits have always been good at this beef thing, but somehow, our steakhouses have always been rubbish. Hawksmoor changed that, and this, their original Spitalfields restaurant, is where it all started.

The Guardian

Good meat shouldn't be cheap, and this isn't, so Hawksmoor tests your willingness to go down the route of paying for happy cows. You should: it's worth it.

Standard

The meat comes courtesy of The Ginger Pig, the much lauded and certainly very busy butchers, before it enters the hands of Hawksmoor’s god-given grilling skills. The climax is more than dramatic: the steak is divine.

Time Out

Set on industrial-chic Commercial Street (a bit of Shoreditch drunk brunchers haven’t quite ruined yet) – the look inside is masculine without throwing its weight around – with a handsome exposed brick backed bar that makes you want to order one thousand martinis.

The Nudge

After re-doing the interior, they also took the opportunity to revamp the menu a little, so while you’ll still find their celebrated steaks, you’ll also come across new numbers like their twelve hour beef short-rib
