About the restaurant

Frenchie’s Covent Garden was opened on Henrietta Street by restaurateur Grégory Marchand in 2016. Marchand had opened the first Frenchie in Paris in 2009 and added three more sites within a stone’s throw of the first on the Rue du Nil before opening in the English capital.

At his Paris and London restaurants, Marchand’s cooking can best be described as ‘bistronomie’, a culinary term invented in France for approachable neighbourhood restaurants serving ambitious food that borders on fine dining in look and feel.

Frenchie Covent Garden serves small tasting menus of five or six dishes in addition to an à la carte menu. Given it’s a stone’s throw from some of London’s best theatres, a great (and cost-effective) way to experience it is to go for a lunch or pre-theatre set menu, priced at a very reasonable £32 for three courses.

The Infatuation

Frenchie is a very, very good-looking restaurant in Covent Garden. We’ve met restaurants like this before, with their lovely pastel velvet seating, warm dome lighting, and entirely disappointing food hidden under a mountain of truffle.

The dishes here also take inspiration from the Parisian menu, only this time the ingredients are all sourced from the UK (except the cheese… which in the Parisian restaurant is all British).
